Pause Awards isn’t a single night or week of celebration. It’s a perennial reminder to uplift and highlight the ongoing journeys of the brightest minds in Australia. It’s a platform where the trials, tribulations and triumphs come to live together. It’s where individuals meet inspiration, and where ideas meet innovation.

Which is why we don’t see ourselves celebrating your nominations and wins as a one-off affair. Instead, we see ourselves building a platform that houses the ecosystem and voices the community — one that champions you and your story every day.
And so, we want you to have access to thoughtfully crafted and skilfully curated content on business success — stories and thought-leadership pieces written and delivered by experts and enthusiasts in the ecosystem.

To address this goal, we caught up with some of our ambassadors and judges to hear what they believe would be the impact of our newsroom. Discussing what they hope to see happen with the advent of such a platform, Founder and Director of Positive HR, Jessica Bilston-Gourley said:

“I see this as a platform that creates value through storytelling of success, innovation, creativity and acknowledgement of failure. It should deliver a knowledge and information hub that takes founders from idea to scalability.”

Not too far removed from this thought process was Creative Director at Synergy Group, Jason Perelson’s comment.

“I’d love to see the sharing of new thoughts and ideas across a range of industries. Not just industry moves and hires or case studies, but truly open conversation about humanity, society, potential and future. I’d love to see people boldly sharing new thoughts and ideas, even if they’re toying with theories, for it to serve as a platform for the future.”

We couldn’t agree more with Jason. For this platform to be truly valuable to the ecosystem, authenticity is key. Discussing what role our ambassadors see our platform play in the wider innovation ecosystem, Birchal’s co-founder Matthew Vitale goes on to say:

“I see this as a platform that celebrates our progress and achievements, and a forum that helps support and guide one another.”

On a similar note, Sergio Brodsky mentions his desire for our platform to be an enabler, a place where people and companies with complementary skills, expertise, and offerings can meet one another.

To be able to bring this to life, engagement and willingness of not just us, but the wider community, is crucial. And while we want entrepreneurs to walk away with valuable insights, there’s so many more benefits our ambassadors see them receiving. In Matthew and Sergio’s opinion, founders are bound to receive encouragement and connection, and a sense of true support that should help them overcome obstacles. Jessica believes that the platform will not only provide them the opportunity to problem solve, but also foster a sense of continuous learning and collaboration that should help them raise funding and scale. And in Jason’s opinion, founders should look to engage with the platform in return for new insights from outlier thinkers and seasoned pros.

There is so much gravitas in what the four of them have to say, and we truly couldn’t have said it any better. The only thing that awaits us now is you and your desire to join our community and become part of this stomping ground for unique, bold, and spirited ideas — ideas that are building businesses of the future.

The Culture track seeks entries that exemplify the development of an inclusive and collaborative workplace culture, crucial for organisational success and growth. The Excellence track celebrates businesses that have demonstrated remarkable success and impact within their industry, regardless of their size. Entries for this category should illustrate how the business's strategic execution, guided by visionary leadership and exceptional expertise, has significantly influenced the industry. The focus will be on the tangible outcomes of these strategies, highlighting the company's ability to innovate, lead, and leave a lasting impression in its field.

The Good track is focused on recognising companies dedicated to their mission of creating a positive societal impact. Entries should highlight innovative solutions aimed at addressing global challenges such as environmental sustainability, social equity, and community well-being. Successful submissions will demonstrate how their initiatives contribute to significant changes, tackling issues like gender inequality, social imbalance, and injustice, thereby setting a precedent for responsible and impactful business practices.

Awarded to a single entry in a category, Grand Prix is the top accolade in that category. To win the Grand Prix, the entire Judging Board must unanimously agree that the entry deserves the accolade of being the best in that category.

The Growth track is about showcasing how businesses have enhanced productivity and execution to make a significant impact in their market. Entries should highlight innovative strategies that have optimised the customer journey, leading to increased engagement and commercial success. This track is for those who have effectively used their understanding of the market and customer needs to scale their business and achieve notable growth.

The Operators track seeks entries that showcase leadership in fostering innovation within their ecosystems. Ideal submissions will highlight how your initiatives have catalysed the creation of new products or services, bolstered by a culture that uplifts internal teams and the wider community. This track celebrates those who drive progress by empowering voices and forging transformative connections in their industry.
